The Windsor Medallion
The Windsor Medallion chair is the most recent addition to Band International’s bentwood range and is another example of Band listening to its customers and reacting to what the market wants. This time the demand for the stackable chair, with changeable pads on both seat and back, came more or less simultaneously from Band’s distributors in three overseas markets. This Medallion chair was shown for the first time in the UK in its initial format at the Showman’s Show in October 2010.
A classic 18th century design, the oval back Medallion chair has long graced the ballrooms of prestigious venues. Thanks to its simple elegance, the Medallion has proven to be a highly popular design for a banqueting chair. Despite its popularity, the medallion chair in wood has thus far been unavailable to the rental market due to its weight, expense and storage difficulty. Band International’s Windsor Medallion banqueting chair offers rental companies and venues the traditional elegance and proven popularity of the Medallion style combined with the stackability of its bentwood siblings. Stacking 10 high, the Medallion chair is literally reaching new heights, and what’s more, the Windsor Medallion also offers an amazing new feature: the interchangeable back pad. This means that the same chair can be used to create a very different look depending on the colour theme requested by the client. In the same way that Band chair seatpads are quickly removed and changed, so the Windsor Medallion back insert can be easily interchanged with other colour back pads. This is again an inexpensive and labour-saving alternative to warehousing the same style of chair in different colours.
The Windsor Medallion chair is available in a range of colours, with changeable back- and seat-pads. Popular colours are the pictured black and white Windsor Medallion, which creates a striking effect at a banquet, whilst green and black have also had a lot of interest.
All Band’s chairs are also available with a larger seat-frame, designed originally for the US and Middle Eastern markets. This provides added strength and comfort for the larger load and particularly suits the proportions of the Windsor Medallion chair.
Like all Band International’s bentwood chairs, the Windsor Medallion is made in Europe from sustainably managed beechwood forests. Its FSC accreditation will stand it in good stead as the hospitality market pays closer attention to ecological issues within this business.
