Will the Phantom chair scratch?
The polycarbonate chair is incredibly resilient. Scratching to the seat of polycarbonate chairs is inevitable at some point. However it is surprising how minimal this in fact is and how easy it is to avoid. Band International has conducted extensive research into the scratchability of polycarbonate chairs and found that hotels offer the best example of durability and maintenance. Band visited a hotel which had been seating its guests on polycarbonate chairs morning, noon and evening for over 5 years. A very small and barely visible amount of scratching had taken place to the seat of the chairs, however the backs of the chairs were virtually as good as new.
As the majority of damage occurs during transport and loading (i.e. a materials handling problem), scratching can be greatly reduced. Our Banquo chairs have soft nylon gliders under the seat which minimise the risk of scratching and keep the stack stable. We include reusable cotton covers within the price of each banqueting chair for further protection during transport. These can be kept on whilst stacked. Alternatively, should you require complete protection, cushions can be provided to cover the seat entirely.
