The Calcutta wedding and banqueting chair

Band International designed this model in response to a need for a high backed stacking chair with a contemporary look. The Calcutta chair is stately in style and has proven a popular choice for the contemporary venue in the UK and also in the USA.

Whilst the Calcutta chair is more solid in appearance, this particular banquet chair stacks as always 10 high, giving venues the option of efficient storage and rental companies the advantage of easy transportation. With legs that are slightly thicker than other models and a higher chair back, the Calcutta chair is marginally heavier than its siblings. For this reason, stacks are usually kept to 8 high and are transported in the same manner as other stackable banquet chairs The Calcutta chair enjoys the same qualities as other Band bentwood chairs, which are designed to sit 10 guests to a table, share interchangeable seat pads and are made from sustainably managed beechwood forests within the EU.

The Calcutta chair is robust, comfortable and lends itself to venues requiring a modern, no-nonsense ambience. This handsome and striking chair, in a black finish it looks chic and perfect for a corporate soiree. Or lighten the occasion (and your maintenance bill) with a natural finish.

Like all of Band’s bentwood banquet chairs, the Calcutta chair can be adapted to suit the needs of our customers. If a client is looking for a cleaner look, the horizontal bars may be removed (we have named this the Poonah). Likewise, if the client is after a fancier design, we are able to introduce additional upright bars to the chair back. If a client is inclined to cover their chairs (although in our opinion they are far too smart for this purpose!), the Calcutta chair makes for a very elegant base. In short, the Calcutta chair is fully adaptable, functional and irresistible for the contemporary venue.
